Stamps for Canada and on Menus

Starting in January 2008, consumers in North America will have two more easy ways to find whole grains, with help from the Whole Grains Council.

Bilingual Stamp for Canada

The words "Grains Entiers" – French for whole grains – share equal billing on the new bilingual version of the Whole Grain Stamp, now available for products sold in Canada.

Aside from the language change, the Canadian Stamp will certainly look familiar to those accustomed to seeing it in the U.S. As you can see above, the Stamp sports the same graphic look that for three years has made it easy for hurried consumers to spot on grocery shelves.

Requirements for the Stamp remain the same in Canada, too: any product bearing the Stamp guarantees you're getting at least half a serving of whole grain in every serving.

Menu Symbol for Restaurants

If you're a regular visitor to this website you know that we've been working hard to encourage restaurants to serve at least one whole grain choice, day in and day out. We've also made it a point to reward restaurants that do so, by giving them publicity on our Find Restaurants list.

Now we're helping restaurants brag about their whole grain dishes – and helping consumers find them – with our new Menu Symbol for restaurants and foodservice outlets.

As you can see below, the Menu Symbol is a simplified version of the Whole Grain Stamp, using the familiar grain sheaf from our Whole Grain Stamp.

Even though the graphic is a bit different – to fit in the small type of menus – the Menu Symbol offers the same guarantee you've come to trust. Any time you see it, you'll know you're getting at least a half serving of whole grain.

For restaurants and foodservice outlets: Find out how you can use the Menu Symbol.
